Our hospital time was very quick with Benson--
I always like to get home as quickly as possible, but this time was a new record.
I think we left less than 24 hours after getting into the recovery room.
My mom needed to leave for the airport around 2:00 pm, so we just informed the hospital staff that we needed to leave at 11:00 and we were met with no resistance!
Staff began preparations around 8:00 am and they came in pretty constantly until everything was done.
As a result, I didn't get in the hospital photo shoot I wanted to do, but I snapped a few photos here and there along the way. My mom brought the boys to visit the evening of the 24th and they were so excited to meet Benson.
Maxwell couldn't keep his hands off him and hasn't lost enthusiasm for him at all, always cooing "Bay-beeee!" when he sees him and constantly smothering him with hugs and kisses. It is pretty much the sweetest thing!
We had the funniest doctor come in and talk to us,
telling us we needed to have another baby so we could have a girl and informing us that if we had another boy he would give us our money back and take the baby for his wife to raise so we could try again for a girl.
Then he started a lecture about the Bible and the breakdown of the government and the family.
He finished by telling me to call with any questions I had because "I promise, we won't laugh at you until after we hang up the phone and the world needs more laughter anyway."
Sam and I looked at each other and burst out laughing as soon as he left the room and Sam expressed his wish that we had recorded the conversation...it was priceless!
I seriously love living in the Bible belt.
This first month has been pretty crazy and rather humbling,
but we are finally getting into the swing of things and I am eating up every minute of squishy newborn cuddle time I get to enjoy.
Babies...I just can't get enough!
