Gentle Giant

When Talmage was a baby Sam got into the habit of calling him our "bear." So when Wesley was born, he decided to give him an animal name as well. He thought about it for a moment and then determined that he would be our "buffalo." I laughed and teased him a bit because "buffalo" is so cumbersome and much less baby-ish than "bear," but it stuck. The funny thing is, it actually really fits him now! He is a big guy, and oh-so-gentle and mellow. People are always shocked when they find out he's only 3 months old.

He has plenty of chub on him, but he's not really all that fat--he's just big! He has big hands, big feet, and a big frame and he is really tall! He always plants his feet when he's laying down and lifts his torso up into the air like this.

It's hard to believe that in less than 2 months he went from this:

to this:

And here he is with my friend's baby. At the time, he was almost 3 months old and she was almost 8 months old (and about in the 60th percentile for height). They're almost the same size, especially when he doesn't have his legs bent!

I'm looking forward to his 4 month doctor appointment stats!

  1. Love the cradle pictures! They just grow so fast at that age.

  2. For your next baby, you could just combine the two like one of my nursery kids and call him "buffle-bear." :)

  3. Ha ha, no, that's what he calls a buffalo (we have animal crackers for snacks).

  4. Wow, he really is huge! Or you could call your third bearfalo...
