Way back in May we took a quick road trip to Tucson to visit Sam's sister, her husband, and their sweet new little baby boy. We left Thursday night, drove through the night (hoping that would make it easier on Talmage), and got to Tucson early the next afternoon. The way back was a lot more long and exhausting with many more stops. I assured Sam that I would be able to drive a large chunk of the way, but of the 40ish hours we spent driving, I drove all of about 3. :) I guess I'm not as tough as I thought when it comes to sleep deprivation.
I was just extremely grateful for the portable DVD player a friend loaned us and the 2 Elmo/Sesame Street movies we brought along with us. I bought one second hand specifically for this trip, and the other one came from the library. Talmage has a slight obsession with Elmo. I'm not sure where it came from...we don't even own a TV. I think it's from the Sesame Street characters featured on his diapers. Anyway, we played those movies over and over and over again throughout the duration of the trip. Sam and I were both a little weary of the Elmo's World theme song by the time we were done, but it was well worth it!
We stayed in Tucson Friday afternoon-Sunday afternoon and then left to come back to Houston. We were grateful our old, rickety car made the trip without any major difficulties. There's not much on I-10 between San Antonio and El Paso. If we had gotten stranded in the middle of the night it would have made things difficult.
I still need to get the adorable pictures of Talmage with his little cousin, but here are a few pictures I took at a gorgeous park we visited! It was so nice to escape the humidity and experience some dry heat again. :)
Thanks to Dan and Amanda for letting us come visit!
