Changing Colors

The downside of feeding Talmage solids is that it turns his spit-up nice, vibrant colors. I find myself on my hands and knees with the Resolve, scrubbing the carpet quite often. On this day, he had spit up so much that I changed his outfit. He had only had his new clothes on for a few minutes before this happened:
It might be a problem if he weren't so cute! But that face is very forgiveable... :)

Happy Birthday to Jocilyn!

I'm a little late on this one, but Friday was my sister Jocilyn's birthday! I admire her so much for so many reasons. We have lived kind of parallel lives even though she is four years older than me, and it has been so fun to experience major events together.

When I was a baby/toddler, she was my "Mama Joc."
When she was twelve and I was eight, people thought she actually was my mom.
When we were both teenagers, people thought we looked exactly alike.
After she went on her mission, I came to BYU and took her old job. When she got back from her mission, we worked together.
We met our husbands around the same time and ended up getting married 15 days apart!
Not only that, but we had our babies (both boys!) just 16 days apart!
She now lives in Utah and I live in Texas, but it is still a joy to hear about her son, exchange information on diapers, coupons, groceries, etc., and feel connected despite the distance that divides us. Happy birthday, Jocilyn!!! I love ya!

Father-to-Son

I'm always taking pictures of these two, I know...Talmage just loves Sam so much and always smiles from ear to ear when he walks in the door. I love seeing the two of them interacting!

Hand-Eye Coordination

Talmage's hand-eye coordination has improved so much lately! The other day he took his binky out of his mouth and started hitting it against his rattle over and over again. It was so cute! Of course he stopped doing it soon after I brought the camera over...but I still managed to get a couple of shots before he got tired of it.

Loving His Feet

I mentioned that Talmage has been loving his feet! He loves it when he is barefoot and can grab his feet and toes and play with them.
He loves this cow. My friend gave it to me when I was moving away from Texas when I was 8.
But after a while...
he ditched the cow and favored his feet!

I don't blame him...these feet are so cute I'm grabbing them all the time, too!

Closed-Mouth Smile

Lately Talmage has been smiling a lot like this:

It's just too cute!

Five Months...

Talmage turned 5 months old on Thursday! I thought it would be fun to take some pictures (surprise, surprise...), but he was being a little bit funny about the pictures. :)
In this sequence, he pretends I just tried to feed him a lemon.

Okay...take two. Let's pull out a monkey. Nope, now he's just going to be goofy.

"Sigh...come on, Mom! Enough already with the pictures!"
"There. Is that a good enough smile?"
"If you won't stop taking pictures, I'll grab the strap on the camera and eat it."
Maybe it will work better if I lay him on his tummy.
"I see you, Mom...you're still taking pictures! I thought we talked about this already."
This boy sure keeps us laughing!
Some highlights on his development:
-He will walk across the room if we hold onto his arms.
-He is getting used to solids...definitely enjoying the fruit more than the vegetables.
-He has a fetish with his feet (more on that later).
-He loves grabbing our faces, putting his fingers in our mouths, pinching our noses, and of course yanking my hair.
-He is a trooper about spending over 2 hours every day in the car as we drop Sam off at school and pick him up.
-He loves pushing buttons.
-His preferred method of learning about the world around him is hitting. When we let him touch something, he will whack it over and over again for several minutes until we take it away. Hopefully this won't be the case as he is exposed to other babies!

Joy Unrestrained

One of the things I love about babies is that their emotions are 100% genuine. You don't get pity laughs or courtesy smiles, and when they do smile it is with wholehearted joy!

That smile just melts my heart!

P.S. The posts for the next little while will most likely be minimal--we're in for a pretty busy month.

Sitting...Almost

We're still working on the whole sitting up thing here. Talmage can balance for a few seconds, but then inevitably something catches his attention and he whips his whole body around to see it, which makes him topple over. There is just nothing still about this baby! He's also really fascinated by his feet and always bends in half so his nose is almost touching the ground, which doesn't make for great sitting posture. :)
Last week, Sam called to me to show me how Talmage was sitting!
Cheesy smile for the camera!
Ahhh! Save me!
He's a lot better at keeping his balance while standing...we'll keep working on it.

Some Links

These webpages are two of our favorites! I thought I would share them with you.

For old LDS "Homefront" commercials, click here:

This website has ratings for most newer movies. It breaks them down and you can read what everything in the movie that might be questionable is-from gory violence to name calling! This is our standard go-to prior to renting or going to a movie. It's so helpful!

I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

Peek-a-Boo!

He just loves this game! Life's simple pleasures really are the best, aren't they?
