When Elsie woke me up the morning of December 19, I went out to the living room with her and lay on the couch, thinking.
I started compiling a list of activities that I wanted to do with the family over the course of the next 2 weeks at home, with the intention of doing one planned activity each day.
I posted on Facebook asking friends for additional ideas, and then I got to work.
I wanted to do some Christmas watercolor paintings, but as I was looking up tutorials on YouTube, the boys saw one they liked even more. So I pulled out some art supplies and we followed this tutorial to make some winter scenes. The boys loved using a variety of materials including tin foil, string, and a small piece of art board to paint.
I thought their paintings turned out nicely!

It was a small, simple activity to kick off our Christmas break, but it helped get the boys' minds off of their disappointment!
These are so cool! I'm glad you were able to make the most of your situation.
