"Is there not glory enough in living the days given to us? You should know there is adventure in simply being among those we love and the things we love, and beauty, too."
-The Black Cauldron, by Lloyd Alexander
Have you read The Chronicles of Prydain, by Lloyd Alexander?
Sam introduced me to the books a couple of years ago,
and they quickly became favorites.
We listened to the audiobooks
(which I highly recommend--the reader is AMAZING),
and now we're reading the series to the boys.
They are hooked on the series the same way we have been.
My favorite is Book 2, The Black Cauldron.
(Not to be confused with the Disney movie, which is very different)
There is one character who is always yearning for battle and adventure.
At one point another character is about to die and he says the words written above.
I love the sentiments expressed there.
I'm kind of a homebody.
My life's ambition has always been to be a mother.
And it's been a grand adventure thus far.
But then, that may be because I live with a bunch of heroes.
