A Little Bit Dreary

Oh, January.
I admit, I'm struggling just a little bit with you this year.
I love the variety of the seasons in Utah,
but this winter has me feeling like I may never be completely warm again!
The kids are perpetually sick,
we're all going a bit stir-crazy,
and Wesley left a shoe in the backyard that has been buried beneath the snow for months.

In the midst of it all, though, I can recognize and appreciate the beauty of fresh snow.
And it makes for beautiful photos.
And Sam continues to love the winter--it lifts my spirits a bit to see his excitement.
So while I'm longing for evenings spent playing in the backyard, long afternoons playing in the water and reading in the shade, fireworks and camping trips and ice cream cones and BBQs...
there is tremendous joy in the moment as well.

And now I think I'll put on my sweats and crawl under a couple of down-filled blankets.

    1. Thank you! Last January was our first January with kids in Utah--before we had never had very cold weather to contend with. And last January was SUPER mild here--so I guess this is my wake-up call! We're gradually getting more adventurous with our indoor-outings, though...

  2. I am so sick of all the rain that we have had since the end of summer. Our yard is like a sponge, which makes it had to do things to get ready for our move. It is also soooooooooooo depressing.

I absolutely love these pictures of my boys. I never get tired of seeing their precious faces. My son, Billy, turned 40 today. Makes me feel so old.

    1. We miss Texas rainstorms, though!! Although I'm sure the mud makes things difficult. And I'm glad you never get tired of seeing their faces, because I don't see myself getting tired of photographing them anytime soon! :)
