Happy are We

Yesterday was the most perfect autumn day.
We've been having a lot of those lately.
The boys and I have been cooped up inside for far too much of the past 5 years,
so we practically live outdoors now!
The slight chill in the air, blue skies, and sunshine called for a backyard picnic...
followed by a nap on the blanket.
The afternoon felt heavenly as the boys all tromped around without a dispute.
Sam taught our Family Home Evening lesson about being prepared,
and we worked together to wash our 60 gallon water barrel and re-fill it.
The boys' smiles as they handled the hose were evidence that they were on top of the world.
We ended the dark, chilly evening with pumpkin gingersnaps, fluffy blankets, storytime, scriptures, and prayers before tucking all three happy boys into bed.

Life isn't perfect,
but on days like that I can't fathom it being any happier.

  1. Kaitlyn, you should seriously be a writer. I have always been an avid reader and I know a few authors, and have written my own book, so I know when someone has the ability. The way that you described you day with the boys, the wonderful weather, and how the evening ended made me feel what you were feeling, and what the boys felt, that will remain in their memories. I am so happy for all of you to be back home in Utah and to have the freedom that the boys need to be boys. I miss all of you and think about you daily.
