A Quarter

It's official.
I'm 25.
It feels like such a milestone--
and I was fortunate enough to spend the day with my sweet ones!

After kind of an off-week
(broken oven, broken computer, broken phone, broken tooth, missed doctor's appointment, a whiteboard marker exploding all over the doctor's office and ruining our clothes and Lincoln's carseat and so forth)
my birthday was a nice break from mishaps.

The free meals and ice cream from restaurants were nice perks, too.

Our oven was still broken,
and just as I was leaving to pick up Sam the missionaries pulled up and said, "We have a present for you!"
I exclaimed, "How did you know it was my birthday?!"
They were stunned. They had randomly made brownies to bring to us--not even knowing about our broken oven! It kind of made my day.

Sam planned my very most favorite meal.
I could gladly eat cold cereal 3 meals per day!

Sam also planned some fun games to keep some certain little boys happy
involving crepe paper and glow in the dark balloons.

We ate miniature ice cream pies for dessert
and Sam gave me this book.
I consider myself a "practical romantic."
Even as a teenager, I was not given to flights of fancy involving elaborate bouquets,
expensive jewelry, or exotic vacations.
I daydreamed about someone who would pick wildflowers for me,
start water fights while doing the dishes,
and randomly leave me poems and love notes.
And I think "A Bicycle Built for Two" is one of the most adorable love songs ever.
Sam fits the bill perfectly,
and reading letters from another "practical romantic" to his wife brings a smile to my face.

25 is off to a great start.
It's going to be a year filled with changes.
Here we go!
