Life's Simple Pleasures

A few of the day-to-day images from the Brady household for you to enjoy...

Talmage has been more of a shower person since the time he was about 8 months old. So to make things easier, I usually just stand Wesley up in there with him and wash them both.

Talmage makes trains out of everything! I discovered this book train one day.

Talmage's dramatic cowlicks in the front and back of his hair are very stubborn--his hair usually just looks messy.

We've tried some new styles...

...but I have issues making it look decent.

Don't be deceived by his smile...he is not a fan of haircuts! He was bribed with an orange roll this time around. :)

This little man won't stay on his tummy for long--he almost always rolls over within a minute or so of being put down.

Lovin' my baby boy! I'm smitten...times three. :)

Here is Talmage's attempt at swaddling Wesley.

Talmage wanted to wear my slippers one morning.

He clearly thought it was hilarious.

Sam has been getting up at 4 am lately so that he can still work long days in his lab but get home by 7 pm and see the boys before they go to bed most days. We're so grateful for his sacrifice! It has made for many more moments like these:

We love having Daddy at home.

Every Monday I make homemade pizza for dinner. Some fun topping combinations we've had recently:
-sweet potatoes, kale, red onions, mozzarella
-parmesan alfredo sauce, spinach, broccoli, mozzarella cheese
-chicken, feta cheese, spinach, carmelized onions or sundried tomatoes
-black bean puree, tomatoes, corn, Mexican cheese, jalapenos, onions, cilantro
Yum! Here's Talmage helping me make the dough.

We struggle to get out the door to go anywhere, because Talmage immediately starts begging to bring countless toys. He insists that he's "sharing" with Wesley and piles them in his carseat all around him. You can't tell that well in this picture, but there was a grand total of 19 toys in with him. I had run upstairs to grab something and came back down to this!

All tuckered out before Church

Talmage loves watching home videos, including the ones we haven't put on DVD yet. He just sits and stares at the tiny screen on the camera.

Talmage still simply cannot leave Wesley alone. He is always grabbing him! Although sometimes it is exasperating (like when he goes up to Wesley's cradle and loudly declares, "Wesley's sleeping...Wesley's awake!" Hmm...go figure!) it is really sweet to see how much he loves him. We're still working on eliminating the "tough love," but he is doing better.

Loves his highchair! And today he gobbled up rice cereal (almost a cup and a half!) and some applesauce! Pictures to come later. :)

Gentle Giant

When Talmage was a baby Sam got into the habit of calling him our "bear." So when Wesley was born, he decided to give him an animal name as well. He thought about it for a moment and then determined that he would be our "buffalo." I laughed and teased him a bit because "buffalo" is so cumbersome and much less baby-ish than "bear," but it stuck. The funny thing is, it actually really fits him now! He is a big guy, and oh-so-gentle and mellow. People are always shocked when they find out he's only 3 months old.

He has plenty of chub on him, but he's not really all that fat--he's just big! He has big hands, big feet, and a big frame and he is really tall! He always plants his feet when he's laying down and lifts his torso up into the air like this.

It's hard to believe that in less than 2 months he went from this:
11/18/2011

to this:
1/13/2012

And here he is with my friend's baby. At the time, he was almost 3 months old and she was almost 8 months old (and about in the 60th percentile for height). They're almost the same size, especially when he doesn't have his legs bent!

I'm looking forward to his 4 month doctor appointment stats!

Little Artist

Here are a few of Talmage's drawings and coloring jobs from the past few weeks. He has really gotten into coloring and drawing and will entertain himself for an hour straight with it! He is quite the little artist.

Sam drew these little tractors for him and Talmage colored them. I love how he colored the back shovel here!

One week we were having little activities about nutrition and we talked about the food guide pyramid. I printed this one off for him and he loved coloring it!

I helped him pick the colors, but he colored it all by himself. My favorite is the strawberry!

Circles

He colored this by himself in nursery!

Sometimes he draws very interesting designs and patterns, like on this grid where he drew a circle in almost every square.

His latest obsession is drawing cars.

I can't tell you how many times I have found papers covered in little cars! He fills notebooks with them!

And here is the little artist hard at work.
