Going Private

I've been thinking for a long time about going private on our blog, but I haven't for various reasons. I've finally decided that we need to, so please leave a comment with your e-mail address if you want an invite! If you don't feel comfortable putting your e-mail address in a comment, you can e-mail it to me at I would be happy to send one to all friends and family, even if you read our blog without us knowing. :) Thanks! Have a great day!

Daddy Time

Watching these two play is one of the sweetest things I get to do! With Sam being gone 70-80 hours/week for school plus having a lot of other commitments that take him away from home, one of our main concerns is that Talmage and our future children still have a great relationship with him. I am so happy to see Talmage's excitement when he sees Sam and the sweet relationship they have. I know this is primarily due to Sam's making the most of every moment he is home.

Brush Your Teeth!

A few months ago, we were in Kroger and I wanted to get Talmage a toothbrush. His pediatrician recommended we start brushing his teeth as soon as they appeared, so I went over to the toothbrush section, picked up the baby-sized ones, and asked Talmage, "Which one do you want?" He surveyed them carefully, his eyes darting back and forth between them, before he selected the blue one.
These days his toothbrush is one of his favorite things to carry around! It is so cute to see him "brushing his teeth" throughout the day.

Mommy-son bonding time...brushing our teeth together.

Happy Birthday, Bronson!

10 years ago today, this amazing guy was born. He has grown into such an awesome young man! He was always my buddy, and I miss him so much! He has such a fun personality, and he keeps us on our toes. He is constantly coming up with new when he was 4 or so and decided to call empty tape dispensers "zaggerzumbots" and start a collection. Or when he was about 3 and had a cut on his finger and told us that a snowman came in with an ax and whacked it! He has a brilliant mind and is incredibly good at figuring out how things work. Sam and I would both be happy if Talmage grew to be the kind of boy Bronson is.

Happy birthday, Bud! Love ya!

More Videos

This video was taken a couple of months ago, but it was too cute to not share! I took his socks off one evening, and then I put one between my lips and was blowing it out onto his face. He thought it was hilarious!

Here is Talmage blowing his nose. He does it all the time, and it is actually surprisingly effective. If you listen when I ask him if he can do it some more, he says, "Yeah." He answers that way to almost every question we ask him these days. So cute!

Finally, here is Talmage making some animal sounds. Pardon the extra stuff at the end-our software doesn't allow editing, so I couldn't cut off the part where his finger got stuck in his toy. This isn't the best display of his animal sounds (he was a little distracted, if you couldn't tell...), but when I've got the video camera out, I'll take what I can get! :)

Washer Woes

The look on Talmage's face pretty well sums up how I've been feeling about the washer the last little while. We bought our washer and dryer off of craigslist, because our new house didn't have any. I was told they both worked, and I got them for an amazing deal.
Or so I thought.
After a few loads of laundry, the washer stopped spinning! Come to find out, it seemed to need a new clutch--something that would have cost us more than the washer cost in the first place!
Today we went to a few different appliance stores and decided on getting a new washer, rather than a used one, to ensure it would work and keep working. We found a great deal on one, and they'll even deliver it for free on Monday as well as take away our old one!
Clean clothes are always nice, huh?

The Outside World

I know I post an awful lot of pictures on here, but since we're so far away from all of our family members, this is the way we can really stay connected. Plus, if you download Picasa, you can upload pictures to your blog much faster than Blogger lets you. Leave me a comment if you want details on how to do it! This makes it so that I can blog for just a few minutes per day while sharing more than enough pictures with family and friends.
Anyway, on with the show. Talmage absolutely loves being outside. We love going out to play on the balcony!

Finding little grains of sand in the grout. Note his intense concentration.

Sometimes he walks around like this, muttering under his breath. It always looks like he is casting spells when he does it!

I love watching him stand up.
Okay, okay buddy, I get the message. Time to go in!

Talmage hates it when I sew. It seems that he will be happily walking around and playing until I sit at the sewing machine, and then he is instantly standing next to me, grabbing my legs and trying to hoist himself up onto my lap, all the while sobbing out, "Mama! Mama!" It is a pretty sad sight to see.
However, there is one tactic that helps divert his attention for a little while, at least: playing with the measuring tape. Here are some pictures of him doing just that.

I just love the little smirk on this one.

To Make You Smile

At least, they make me smile! Here are a few random pictures for you to enjoy:
Talmage surprisingly enjoys spicy food, like this southwestern macaroni dish with green chilies in it!

I love this one.
Playing with the gate at the top of the stairs--I was SO grateful when we got that! He thought it was the funniest thing EVER to run for the stairs and try to run off the edge before I could snatch him away!

That smile! Love!
Such a messy eater! Especially with yogurt!
Pondering a crenshaw melon...

Playing with a hanger...household objects are always more fun than toys.
He seems so tall and old to me, but when I see him across the room I realize how small he still is!
No, I didn't style his hair that was a natural result of his playing. :)
I love playtime with my boy...he is so much fun!

Sunday Morning

Here are a few pictures from one bright Sunday morning in the Brady household:
Talmage loves picking up the rugs around the house, shaking them, and then throwing them in a heap.

Checking out the balcony
So happy.

Eating something...a piece of a Cheerio, no doubt.

And of course throwing kitchen items all over the floor

Bliss, plain and simple. :)
