Sam planned the sweetest surprise for me for Mother's Day! On Saturday he drove us to a park, laid out some blankets, and had me close my eyes while he laid out everything else. When he had me open them, there was a wonderful picnic laid out with a beautiful bouquet of white lilies--my favorite! There was also a card he had made with a special section from Talmage. Sam had given him the pen and let him scribble on it, and then Sam "translated." It reminded me of the valentine Sam made for me from Talmage last year when I was only about a month pregnant with him! :)
The lilies were mostly closed, which was perfect, because we have gotten to watch them bloom over the course of the past few days! They are beautiful!
Then he gave me a present. I opened it and it was the game "Guess Who?," which is, strangely enough, one of my favorite games. I know it is made for little kids, but we had some pretty fierce competition going there. My sister and I used to make up variations and play for hours, but Sam and I didn't have it, so he got it for me! We played it 9 times in a row at the park!
It was so pretty! We were right in the middle of a circle of trees and there were squirrels playing all around us. We managed to notice the ants crawling onto our blanket before they attacked Sam and gave him tons of nasty bites the size of quarters...something we failed to do when we were taking family pictures a couple of weeks ago. His legs have almost healed...
We went to clean up the blanket and realized there were little stickers hidden all over in the grass, and they definitely favored our fleece blanket. It was fun to pick them off together on a park bench, discussing traditions we would like to incorporate into our family.
What are some of your favorite traditions?
Squinty eyes because of the bright white sky
It was such a fun surprise!
Then on Sunday Sam grabbed Talmage from me in the morning and let me go back to sleep...when I woke up about an hour and a half later, a wonderful breakfast was sitting on the table and Talmage was bathed, ready for Church, and put back down for his morning nap! Add to that the lovely dinner he made for us after Church, and I'd say it was a pretty amazing Mother's Day. Thanks, Sam!!!
